Unable to run these schools themselves, Calcutta City Council has decided to hand over 22 schools to voluntary welfare organizations. These organizations will use these schools as centres for vocational training. In these schools, training will be provided for a fee. However, 25% of students nominated by Calcutta City Council must be trained for free. Each of the 22 schools that has been decided to be handed over to voluntary welfare organizations has under 14 students. The survey has identified 54 similar schools.
